Especially popular

Going to a musical in Hamburg

After London and New York, Hamburg is one of the biggest musical cities in the world. The big stages – the Stage Theater im Hafen and the Stage Theater an der Elbe – are in the port on the south bank of the Elbe, so on our side: you do not have to cross the city centre to get to the theatre.

The Operettenhaus on Spielbudenplatz and the Theater Neue Flora are also easy to reach. If you like arriving by boat, take the harbour ferry from the Landungsbrücken to the theatre – for many people that is part of the evening.

After the show you drive back to the quiet, park free at the door and sleep without city noise. Just let us know when booking if you will arrive late.

Things to do

What to see in Hamburg

  • Miniatur Wunderland

The world's largest model railway in the Speicherstadt – and one of Germany's most visited attractions. Book tickets in advance, it gets busy.

  • Elbphilharmonie

The landmark of the HafenCity. The Plaza, 37 metres up, offers a panoramic view over the port and the city, plus concerts in the halls.

  • Speicherstadt & HafenCity

The world's largest warehouse complex and a UNESCO World Heritage Site – brick, canals and bridges right next to the modern harbour district.

  • Port & Landungsbrücken

Harbour tours, the Old Elbe Tunnel and views of the shipyards. On Sunday mornings the fish market is right next door.

  • Tierpark Hagenbeck

A traditional zoo with a tropical aquarium – a classic for families and good for a whole day out.

  • Reeperbahn & St. Pauli

Theatres, clubs and bars around Spielbudenplatz – the city's best-known district at night.

  • Planten un Blomen

A large park in the city centre with a Japanese garden – and in summer the water light concerts in the evening.

  • Shopping & the Alster

Mönckebergstraße, Jungfernstieg and the Inner Alster lake are side by side – shopping and a stroll by the water in one.

And on the doorstep

Lüneburg, the heath and the Elbe

  • Lüneburg

About 30 km away: a medieval old town with brick gables, the salt museum and salt spa – a nice contrast to a day in the big city.

  • Lüneburg Heath

Wide heathland, horse-drawn carriage rides and footpaths – especially when the heather blooms in late summer.

  • The Elbe & Stover Strand

Sandy beach, dyke and the Elbe Cycle Route right by the hotel. All for cyclists
